the word "starkish" is making its way into popular culture in new zealand, but what is it exactly?

Revealed.
"After weeks of excitement and controversy surrounding a campaign in which the media was invited to incorporate into their work an invented word - 'starkish', meaning a sense of proportion and good taste." It has all finally been revealed here.
Having heard the PR bimbo who launched this thing being interviewed on the radio (http://www.radionz.co.nz/nr/programmes/mediawatch) I was speechless! Perhaps this word should be re-cast to describe someone who demonstrates a totally cynical and mercinary lack of ethics when exploiting the innocent (and ignorant) for commercial gain. I'm sure if that was the meaning attached to the word by all & sundry, the advertising campaign would have managed to back-fire.
